Understand the four problems solar and wind create for power grids, and how battery storage helps solve them. One focused video module, explained ground-up.
Instructor: Gaurav JoshiLanguage: English
Renewable energy is no longer a future plan. The International Energy Agency (IEA) projects that around 45% of the world's electricity will come from renewable sources by 2030*. By the end of 2023, over 170 countries had set renewable electricity targets*.
If you work in the power sector, you are already part of this shift. You may also have heard that "the grid isn't ready." But the explanation is usually scattered: a note on inertia here, a vendor slide on reactive power there. It is hard to see how the pieces connect.
Grids were built for predictable, centralised generation. Solar and wind are variable, weather-dependent and spread across many locations. That mismatch creates four connected problems: fluctuating output, low system inertia, limited visibility and control, and weak voltage support.
This free course gives you one structured path through them. You start with how the conventional grid worked, move to how the modern grid is changing, understand each problem in plain language, and finish with how energy storage addresses them. Concepts are explained ground-up, with simple analogies, so you can follow them whether you are new to the field or years into it.
It also prepares you for the next step. If you want to go deeper into storage design, the 4-Week BESS Bootcamp for Engineers builds directly on this foundation.
